Actual picture of jumping beans before they are individually checked and put into plastic hinged containers.

Jumping beans come from a small area in Mexico. They are a small berry that has
dried to a bean like appearance, hence their nickname “Mexican Jumping Beans.”
The beans jumping action comes from a small harmless caterpillar that flicks around inside.

Note: The U.S. Government has determined that it is completely safe to sell and import
Mexican Jumping Beans, they pose no harm to humans, animals, plants or livestock in the U.S.A.

Mexican Jumping Beans (Sebastiana pavoniana) are a native of Mexico and found only in a
small mountainous region. These beans usually come only once per year. For many years there were
no jumping beans because of weather conditions like drought and heavy rains. Jumping beans make great
pet's as they will last a long time with proper care. They are a fascinating conversation piece. Many of today's children have never seen them. Our company is focused on marketing this again like they were in the 1970's.
It should be noted that the U.S. Government USDA issues a no harm to crops in the USA as they live a
very delicate life. This is one of those miracle animals that not many people know even existed!

Can jumping beans see or feel???

Yes! They do react to light, temperature and vibrations! Pick them up and they quickly STOP jumping,
hold your hand steady for about 20 seconds and they may begin again! Hold your hand over them,
as if to shadow them from light and you will notice that they will stop. It seems that they jump less during
the evening time. Cooler temperatures also make the beans stop jumping. Warmer temperatures seem to
make them jump more!

You can get the most from your beans by...

Keeping extra beans at cool temperatures, but never frozen.
• Hydrating them by misting non-chlorinated water over them once a month.
• Keeping them away from high heat (80+ Fahrenheit). This will enable the beans to eventually naturally hatch.

Hints and Tips

• If the beans you have seem to not be moving around as much, you can refrigerate them overnight.
• The warmer the beans are, the more they wiggle causing them to eventually hatch.
• You can tell if your beans are dead if you shake one and you hear a clicking sound.
• The beans are motion, light and heat sensitive. Move them and they will stop moving
and begin again after 20 seconds or so.
